i was watching the white rapper show and it got me thinking...first off, i love that show. big time..but i also realize everyone on it is pretty much a joke. so i got to thinking about what are some signs that make for a wack mc. keep in mind, this is coming from a former wack mc...so, you know, take it with a grain of salt...
sure shot signs you're a wack mc:

1)you say the phrase "in the building" more often then not. chances are, you're in a building. it's not much of a statement or an achievement.

2)your mc name is a random word that has nothing to do with you or your rapping...more specifically, a word you didn't know the definition of before it became your mc name.

3)the words mental, lyrical, mystical, mind, cerebellum ect...get regular run in your rhymes. these are dumb words used by people who want to sound smart. when i was 16 and rapping, i used these all the time. i also was a fucking idiot who had no real depth in my lyrics, hence i used those words to make it seem like i did. please, stop it with those words.

4)if when you kick a verse, it has a different flow everytime. there are maybe two people i've ever heard do this and actually come off..the rest of you, it just means you're not writing with a flow...or your flow just sucks in general.

5)if you think most of todays underground mc's are killing it. if you do, you're in trouble cause and i think you gotta learn a little selectiveness. the truth is 95% of all rappers are mediocre. that's just as bad as being terrible to me cause a mediocre rapper is just taking up space. not to sound like an old fart but in the early 90's if you got signed, in many cases, you had something about you that was at least interesting. it could be some bullshit like you dressed funny like kwame or you did that low voice shit like akynele..it was something, at least people tried to sound different.

6)you have a shitty voice. i'm sorry 90% of all white rappers, it's just not in the cards for you. you could be the second coming of rakim and flow like a twista but if you have a shitty weak voice it's not gonna happen.

7)you're a great off the dome mc but you write bullshit verses. ever notice some dudes can come up with the craziest shit off the top but when they write a verse it's mad horrible? if that is you, you might as well stick to freestyling...

8)if you try to hard to make concept songs. never force that shit. i've heard endless mc's tall me about dumb ideas like "yo, ii'm writing this song from the viewpoint of a crack in the sidewalk" or "i got this ill idea for a song where i'm a bird and i'm migrating, but it's gonna be all about going west from the east". that kinda shit is not only pretentious and forced, but it's also just wack AND it's been done. concept songs are hard. that's why it's so rare that one ever works out.

9)if you don't know how to construct a song. this one is tricky cause there's no set way to make a song BUT if you got verses all over the place and a weak hook, it's most likely not good. hooks are important for sure but a lot of people focus more on the hook and the rhymes just become like filler. there's gotta be a balence.

10)if you're name is jus rhyme and you're the corniest person alive.

I think Block has sold beats to at least 200 rappers or more. So after it gets to you. I don't think its specific. Cause theres 1 million rappers in the world literally so about 950,000 fall into this somewhere.
