If anyone knows me well at all, they’ll be able to tell you that my favorite artist/producer is Pharrell, I respect that brother’s creative musical talents. Anyways, his solo album, although high on my list for playability, pretty much flopped and was tagged by Entertainment Weekly as one of the worst albums of 2006. Pharrell’s solo project, as one would reasonably assume, was hyped because of the power of the Neptunes’ production put in the hands of its frontman seemed to be a formula for success. We all know that sometimes its easier to help others than help yourself though, and it seems as if this was the problem with Pharrell’s LP.

I’m pretty sure P felt as disappointed in himself and lack of success as the media did, so he ended up calling out to The Roots’ drummer and hip-hop guru, ?uestlove, for help. ?uestlove agreed to redo Pharrell’s entire LP with the help of a band and another producer, so over a 2 week period, ?uest and posse sequestered themselves in the studio and produced what is now known as “Out of My Mind“, under the artist name Pharrell and the Yessirs. Check it out for yourself, (I’ll be dropping the rest of the tracks as I get them, so stay tuned) I’m impressed, there is even an online petition with almost 1000 signatures requesting Sony BMG Music Group to release the album. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…
