12/24/06 - Nas Checks Young Jeezy & Luda, Baby & BG ,50Cent Supports Game
In this week's Pulse Report, the streets are buzzing about Nas addressing Young Jeezy and Ludacris, Birdman and B.G. ending their feud and 50 Cent showing his support for Game
1. Nas addresses Young Jeezy and Ludacris. Wasn't Nas on Funkmaster Flex's show like last week? Whatever the case may be, God's Son appeared on New York's Hot 97 earlier this week. The Queens lyricist revealed that Jeezy called him immediately after appearing on Monie Love's show to explain himself. Nas also spoke on Ludacris's "Hip-Hop Ain't Dead" t-shirt. "Ludacris, who is my boy had a t-shirt that said, "hip-hop ain't dead, it lives in the south," Nas told Flex. "Some people called me up like...what's up with Luda I'm like, 'he's representing his town. He's speaking from what he believes in.'
"I'm cool with Luda. I'm cool with Chaka [Zulu]. I ain't got no problems with them, but a lot of artists might have saw that as...he's setting it. And now let's jump in," Nas continued. "Hold up, Luda hip-hop does not live in the south. Let's get that straight. It lives in New York, the south, the west everywhere and the south has had a great moment and we love that. And it's nothing against the south. So I don't want people to say, it lives in one area, it lives in New York, it only lives in the south. You know what I'm saying, Luda."
God's son also stopped by BET's "RapCity" to promote his Hip-Hop Is Dead album earlier this week. He was unusually animated. Maybe that's what made him forget his rhymes, not once, but twice. By the way, does anybody know the name of that new "RapCity" host? Nevertheless, after slipping twice Nasty Nas stepped away and claimed that the host's rhymes were so crazy they made him nervous. Right!
2. Birdman and B.G. end feud. There will be no tasteless joke in this segment. This matter is way too serious. Birdman and B.G. recently spoke live on New Orleans' Q 93 radio station. It turns out that Birdman called the station at the same time B.G. phoned in to offer his condolences to the Williams family regarding the death of Stunner's sister. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry despite what you and me been through," said B.G. "I knew Tamara personally, we grew up together, we go back. I just wanted you to know that my heart goes out to you and the whole Williams family."
"I can respect that," Birdman replied. "I'll put everything on the side for that."
"I'm not on your side like I used to be, but for something like this to happen, I can still feel like your pain," B.G. continued. "I feel like I'm right there with you."
3. Fif rocks Game shirt. This week has been an otherwise calm one in hip-hop. No disses for a change, unless Jay-Z shouting "Brooooklyn" courtside during a New Jersey Nets basketball game, applies. On another note, 50 Cent was photographed sporting a Game t-shirt recently. The front of the shirt displayed a fist holding a rope chain with "The Game" written at the bottom while the back reads "Doctor's Advocate" and the number one. You think Fif paid for the shirt? Apparently the photos were taken somewhere in California. The photo has also become the default picture for Chuck Taylor's myspace page. "Hate it or Love it? 50 Cent loves it!" the screen reads. What...ever!
4. Would Black Thought kick Posdunous' ass? We're not talking WWE here. During an interview on Hardknock TV During an interview on Hardknock TV, hip-hop veteran Davey D asked Pos who would win in an emcee battle between he and Thought. "Thought would kiss my ass. I'm a humble dude. I'm being honest. A lot of people have told me how they feel about me as an emcee and I'm blessed to have people feel that way about me cause I rate myself a strong 5 going into a 6." 5.5???? Nah, dude. Pos has to be one of the most underrated emcees in history. He's a classic lyricist.
Davey D also asked who would win between Maseo and ?uestlove in a DJ battle picking records. Pos sided with Mase.
Make sure to tune in next week for the SOHH's Second Annual Pulse Report Awards.
