DR Dres son dies Dr Dre’s son has died aged 20.
The body of Andre Young Jr was found in his Woodland Hills home on Saturday morning (August 23), according to Los Angeles Times.
The paper states that the death of the rap superstar’s son has been confirmed by the Los Angeles County Coroner.
According to subsequent reports, Young went out on Friday night and returned home at 5:30am, but when his mother came into check on him at 10am, she found him unresponsive.
Young’s mother reportedly called 911 immediately. Reps for Dr Dre said: "Dr Dre is mourning the loss of his son Andre Young Jr. Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time."
Rapper Dr. Dre, whose real name is André Young, has lost his 20-year-old son, his publicist said Tuesday.
"Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son André Young Jr.," publicist Lori Earl said in a statement.
Young Jr. was found unresponsive Saturday by his mother at their home in Woodland Hills, Calif. Paramedics were called, but Young was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was performed Monday but no cause of death has yet been declared.
Dr. Dre, current chief executive of Aftermath Records and former co-owner of Death Row Records, is best known for his 1992 album The Chronic. He has also been an influential producer and contributor to other hip-hop recordings.
His final solo album, Detox, much delayed by the wrangling over ownership of Death Row Records, is scheduled for a 2008 release. |
