| Man Posed As Cop, Made Bogus Arrests, D.A. Says A 24-year-old man who the district attorney says posed as a police officer and made bogus arrests on Long Island and in New York City faces arraignment Wednesday.
The Suffolk County district attorney says Henry Terry of Holbrook was indicted by a grand jury on charges of impersonating a police officer and grand larceny.
The district attorney says the grand larceny charge stems from an incident in which Terry allegedly convinced the owner of a sport utility vehicle to give him the SUV for use in a supposed undercover investigation.
Terry then swapped the car for another one and $600 cash.
District Attorney Thomas Spota says in a statement that his office and investigators believe the defendant had been posing as a police officer for some time.
In order to keep up his ruse as a fake police officer, the district attorney says that Terry bought badges, uniforms and other law enforcement gear from catalogs and the Internet. |
