| Alright I'm back with some audio. I did this yesterday just got my mic and preamp set up. I wanted to post it now keep in mind I did the beat and wrote it and recorded it in about three hours so it's not my best shit but it's not bad either a bit of rewrite and rerecording screwups in the flow. I'm trying to get my flow right so I will be posting other stuff on here for a bit of feedback on performances. And I'm experimenting with my voice not sure how good it is this performance is just my normal voice coming from my diaphragm. I think it's best when I add bass to my voice I'll get a version of that up next week I'm leaving in a bit for the weekend.
Don't be scared to say you think it sucks or my voice is terrible. You won't hurt my feelings I'm a big boy and it lets me know what I need to work on. That being said lay off the flow it's my first real try at a hip hop song written as a song to a beat and I'm working on the flow (constructive criticisms is always welcome though.
All that being said I'm very pleased with this as a first full track minus hook. http://www.filefreak.com/pfiles/18717/droneverse.mp3

| Your voice isn't bad. It didn't bother me like I assumed it would. It's certainly more tolerable than MY voice.
Sound quality is much better than what I record, though you have the same problem as ME, where you're a bit too quiet. I'd recommend just enunciating your words a little more. You have this tendency to mumble and slur what you say. It takes away from how convinced you are of your own words. You need a bit more confidence. Articulation is key, especially when not every listener will have the lyrics handy, regardless of whether it's posted on the internet. Think of rapping as voice acting. You don't need to get all crazy with your voice, but just consider the fact that no one can see your facial expressions, so they don't know how you feel. Make your voice reflect how you feel.
Not gonna touch the lyrics since I couldn't hear them that well, but from what I caught, they could use a little more work. But that's OK, I mean, it's your first full track, so it's gonna be bad before any good can come out of it later. |

| Yeah the lyrics were quick write but I think they have some potential with some rewriting.
I have always had the tendency to mumble my words it's a bad habit. My voice sound a lot better with more bass I think but I sacrifice a bit on the clarity of words. I'm going to pay around with it a bit more when I get home. I really need to spice up the drums in the beat and add some accoutrement's but it's got potential. This was a learning exercise mostly does my voice work can I write 48 bars on subject (I wavered a bit on that).
The sound quality I owe all to the m-audio nova condenser mic (90 new 70 refurb) and art studiov3 tube preamp (70 new) . They sound spectacular the preamp really make the recording sound crisp and the mic is just spectacular for the price. I recommend investing in these I run them through a tascam us-428 into flstudio. But any audio interface would work.

| Well, I already have a $90 Samson USB Condenser mic that was highly recommended to me, but I underestimated the importance of a pre-amp, so I should invest in one. |

| yeah and from what I have read the usb mics just don't cut it for music applications they are designed for webcasts not raps. I was about to get one myself but then did a bit of research and decided it was more expensive but in the end you get what you pay for. now if you use that usb mic it does three things in one preamp mic audio interface I have three separate units for each which in all was about 260.00 got mic and preamp at musicians friend got a refurb mic and new preamp 140 with free shipping got a tascam us-428 on ebay for the audio interface like 120 (but I overpaid) and I wish I had invested more in the audio interface because it only has mono inputs not stereo. The mono is fine for vocals but I have bought a bunch of hardware equipment also keyboards and synths and drum machines and have no way to send stereo signal from them into my computer.

| So far, though, the USB mic has served its purpose decently, since at least my vocals are COMPREHENDABLE now, as opposed to staticky and unbearable before.
I mean, I'm not looking for studio quality sound by any means, I just needed something that would at least sound OK on a stream.
For my own mixtape and album I'm doing, I'm probably gonna record both on campus at my school since there are free recording booths and equipment there, and it's all legal, as long as I don't profit from the music at all. Which I never intended in the first place.
Back to your track, though...I think it really DOES need a hook when you go to re-record it. OR you can at least talk and put some ad-libs to fill in the blank space. Maybe insert some sampled vocals from a movie or SOMETHING. It just takes away so much from the overall product... |

| oh yeah I know I already tried some ad-lib shit but it was bad
I'll be back in 8 I'll be back in 8
aint got no hook so you have to wait
I was going to take some sections four bars or something from the previous verse with a good punch line at the end but I'm probably not going to use this for anything maybe take some of the rhymes from it.
Yeah the school is cool go the cheapest rout. I set up a dedicated studio and i'm trying to get near professional quality on everything. So I have been investing money as much as I can over the past6 months to it. It's coming along it's just I never have time to get out here and work anymore. I work all the time to pay for it and on top of that I'm seeing a girl that lives a hour away from it. But now I got it and I'm trying top make some time to use it.
